Cha sui bao – recipe.

For the people who don’t know what cha sui bao is, cha sui bao is pork-filled bun and it taste’s amazing, I won’t say much you can make it by following the steps below and know all about it on your own . The recipe is divided into 2 parts – The dough and The filling
Ingredients for the dough –

  • Warm water ( 1 cup )
  • Sugar (3 tablespoon )
  • Dry yeast ( 1 package , 2 ¼ teaspoon )
  • All purpose flour ( 3 ¼ cups )
  • Canola oil ( 3 tablespoons )
  • Salt ( ¼ teaspoon )
  • Baking powder ( 1 ½ teaspoons )

Ingredients you would need for the filling –

  • 5-spice powder ( ½ teaspoon )
  • Trimmed pork tenderloin ( 1 pound )
  • Green onions , thinly sliced ( 1 cup )
  • Hoisin sauce ( 3 tablespoons )
  • Rice vinegar ( 2 tablespoon )
  • Soy sauce , low sodium ( 1 tablespoon )
  • Honey ( 1 ½ teaspoon )
  • Fresh , peeled ginger ( 1 teaspoon )
  • Garlic ( minced 1 teaspoon )
  • Salt ( ¼ teaspoon )

 

Instructions

  • In the beginning, to make the filling you need to rub 5 – spice powder over the pork
  • then heat a grilling pan over medium temp after heating the pan coat it with cooking spray  once you get done with spraying add pork and cook it for about 18 minutes,

  • keep turning the pork and once you feel its cooked remove it from the pan and let it stand for at least 15 minutes.
  • You need to cut the pork into thin slices, cut it crosswise.
  • Take a medium size bowl place pork in it then add onions and all the other ingredients which are mentioned till salt.
  • in the above list stir all the ingredients well after stirring all you need to do is cover it and then refrigerate it .

  • For preparing the dough, take a large bowl
  • add sugar, yeast and 1 cup of warm water after adding water lightly spoon the all-purpose flour into dry while measuring cups.
  • Add Canola oil, flour and salt to your yeast mixture; keep stirring till you get a soft dough.
  • Turn your dough onto a light forced surface till it gets elastic and smooth in nature.
  • Take a large bowl, coat it with cooking spray and after spraying place the dough in the bowl.
  • Cover the bowl and let the dough rise, keep the dough covered for about an hour.
  • Divide the dough into 10 portions and make balls of it, take a ball and fill the filling in the center.
  • bring the sides up to cover and meet at the top so that the filling doesn’t fall out, fall the same step for other balls too.

  • Arrange five buns in a line make sure you sewn two pieces together and then cover the bamboo steamer with lid.
  • Add water to a skillet (large in size), boil over high-medium heat . its time you place your steamer in the pan; steam it for 10-15 minutes.
  • Before serving let it cool down for 10 about minutes
